ECS Solutions

High speed camera systems used in manufacturing for process uptime and quality control have three main components (1) capture hardware (2) processing hardware and (3) display/operator software. Any complete system is only as good and the individual parts.  ECS offers a full range of options within each component group to ensure the solution is exactly matched to the application. Systems in the packaging sector typically use the ECS RetroSpek™ single screen software while systems that require web inspection and defect tracking use the ECS View™ package. Regardless of the configuration all systems utilize the same simple building blocks: GigE cameras connected with standard Ethernet cables to off-the-shelf computers. This creates highly scalable systems with minimal total cost of ownership.

Regardless of the final ECS solution the following five basic requirements
must be met:

  1. The solution (hardware and software) has absolute uptime (99%)
    2. a. Real-time video processing and storage to allow unlimited video buffering
  2. The system provides the highest resolution and frame rate possible
    a. Light and camera enclosures that stay clean in hostile environments
    b. Lighting systems are used that allow the camera to operate at the best possible optical settings (shutter speed, depth of field, contrast)
    c. User selectable compression on the storage of video
  3. The software must be easy to understand and require a minimum of operator training
  4. Include advanced features that provide actionable real-time data that create significant value-add (for example – product defect detection)
  5. No proprietary parts with low long term cost of ownership
